Amyris Oil
Amyris balsamifera
Benefit:
Natural
Not to be outdone by the famous sandalwood that it’s so often mislabelled as, amyris’s very name comes from a Greek word amyron meaning “intensely scented” thanks to the plant’s strong resinous odour. Described as balsamic and sweet, it offers a more affordable alternative with a similar smell.
Amyris Oil
Amyris Oil comes from the Amyris balsamifera plant. The bushy shrub or small tree is a member of the citrus family and produces white flowers. It is sometimes incorrectly described as a type of sandalwood due to the similarity in the scent profiles of the two plants, but they are unrelated. Amyris oil is extracted from the tree’s wood via steam distillation.
