Deeper shades of brown and black hair will add an inky, gorgeous dark tone to their tresses with this nourishing and packaging-free cocoa butter henna block.

How to use

Henna is a gloriously messy, hippy process - and the idea is to get as much of it onto the hair as possible! Our essential bamboo henna application brush is ideal for getting extra precision. Our unique cocoa butter henna brick is designed to be enough for one head of mid-length hair and melts down with hot water into a rich paste, which you should apply generously. See our top tips for application here.

How to store

Your henna brick will arrive in a beautiful recycled paper packaging, with designs inspired by the organic, floral henna designs traditionally found in Middle Eastern and Asian skin art. Keep your henna brick in its wrap in a cool, dry place, ready for when you use it. Henna bricks are best used fresh and you can put any leftover melted henna in your compost. To continue our commitment to reduce single use plastic, your henna will no longer come with plastic gloves. Please protect your hands with your trusty reusable rubber gloves.

What's in it for you?

The darkest of our henna blocks, Noir is made from fair trade cocoa butter, the finest Iranian henna and deep blue indigo to leave hair soft, glossy and deeply conditioned. Those with dark hair will notice a rich blue-black tint throughout, and the more you use it, the more the color intensifies. After the first use, your hair will turn several shades darker, but to truly release your dark side, apply every 4-6 weeks.

I got sick of "killing" my hair with chemicals dyes, so let it grow out and put this product through it. It's a lot of work, and takes a while to "act" but DAMN, it's worth it! A hair treatment and colour in one, it lasts for ages and leaves your hair feeling fantastic. Will be using this again very soon...

Unfortunately the NEW formula still doesn’t work

Using as per the instructions to cover the grey hair, Rouge first and then NIOR. However , just like some comments says, it won’t leave bronze / red color. The Noir dye does nothing. I am very disappointed and I don’t understand what test have Lush done for them to believe the product actually works.

Changed formula is awful

I've used Noir for tens of years and always had a lovely dark result. Now it make almost no difference apart from adding an awful red tinge. Most recently bought a month ago so if this this the reformulated version its still awful. Also not sure on why the shape of the block has changed. I used to use one block per use. Now it's difficult to find the same amount each time. Please bring back the original formula.

DO NOT USE - AVOID AT ALL COST

So, I have used rouge numerous times before now with no problems when it comes to bleaching or colouring a different colour once it had faded. I used this ONCE, waited for it to fade before speaking to my hairdresser about going back to blonde, it turned my hair green. My hair has now had 3 rounds of bleach with zero success of removing or even lightening the green colour enough to tone over, it has resulted in me cutting around 4 inches off my hair, not due to bleach damage but in an attempt to cut the green out of my hair.
I have spoken to LUSH about this issue to be told that I shouldn't of bleached my hair as it can actually make the henna penerate further into my hair and that henna can infact take YEARS to be able to recolour. If you want to go dark I would highly recommend avoiding this at all costs and going to a hairdressers, even a box dye would be easier to remove than this. Proffesional hairdressers don't even offer such a product so it's incredibly irresponsible on LUSHs part to be selling this, with no age restriction, no product to help remove and no advice given on purchase (on my purchase this was the case at least)
DO NOT PURCHASE.

Caca Noir

I bought henna to cover my grey hair.
I was aware that I needed to do this in two steps: first caca rouge, then caca noir.
I applied caca rouge for 3-4 hours and rinsed out. The next day, I applied caca noir for over 4 hours.
My results were disappointing. Caca rouge did cause my greys to turn reddish, however, caca noir did not cover the reddish tint. In fact, noir did not make my hair seem darker or give it cooler tones. It did the opposite and actually made it reddish.
I have done henna before and I have done a two step technique using a cheaper brand, and my hair had a more brown rather than reddish hue with that henna.
I give it two stars only because the smell of lush henna is not as strong as regular hennas and because the caca rouge does work. caca noir doesn't . I probably will not repurchase.
