Ideal for combination or oily skin, our mildly exfoliating charcoal facial soap makes quick work of excess oil to leave your skin matte and super clean. We counteract charcoal's deep-cleansing action with soothing rosewood and sandalwood oils to reduce redness and keep your skin nicely balanced. The formula is rounded out with a cleansing liquorice decoction, giving this bar a subtle anise scent.
Why cleansing is key to healthy skin
While it might not be the most exciting product in your skincare repertoire, Lush co-founder and product inventor Helen Ambrosen believes that the single most important step in your routine is your cleanser.
It’s nice to use, but unfortunately it smells like liquorice to me, and I don’t like liquorice at all 🙈
Had been using the original coal face for around 4 years, was the only thing that kept my acne at bay (I’ve tried several medications and topical treatments through my gp and the old coal face was the only thing that worked), not only is this more expensive, it doesn’t last half as long, hurts the skin and eyes and my acne is worse than it ever has been. Don’t get the glitter and other unnecessary added ingredients, PLEASE bring back the old formula :(
i have quite oily skin and this hasnt helped. I find it difficult to lather and a daft shape, mine was cute like a triangular block which makes it difficult to use. Wouldn't buy again
I have an oily skin and I struggled to find a proper product to wash my face without leaving it too dry. Once I tried this coalface soap, I felt the difference between all these supermarket products and something made "artisanal". My face is really clean and all the excess oil has been removed without leaving my face dry or flaky.
Not sure what the old coalface was like but this one is brilliant. I have combination skin and this soap has worked for me. No more oily patches, no more dry areas and my breakouts have cleared. Another great product from lush.
