How to use henna hair dye

Henna is a natural alternative to hair dye and also works as a deep conditioning treatment that leaves your hair looking shiny and feeling soft. Each of our rich, gorgeous colors is expertly blended with natural henna, powdered herbs and fair trade organic cocoa butter—so your hair will be left looking healthy and feeling fabulous.

1.

Gather up your supplies. You will need a heat-proof bowl, gloves, spoon and comb. Start by applying a small amount of Ultrabland or Vasaline to your hairline and ears.

2.

Break your henna block into chunks, place into a heat-proof bowl over a pot of hot water. Slowly add boiling water until the henna is covered. Stir regularly until the mixture resembles cake batter. Ensure the henna stays comfortably hot in while applying.

3.

When the henna is cool enough to touch, apply it evenly to clean, dry hair—working from the roots to the tips. Work in sections to ensure a even coat. Leave on for about two hours.

4.

Hop in the shower and deeply cleanse with your favorite shampoo. Depending on your hair you might need to rise 2 or 3 times to ensure all the henna is removed. Then style as per usual and watch as your beautiful henna shade develops over the next few hours.
